Our capacitive touch switches are extremely durable, feature an elegant appearance, and have a lower bill-of-materials cost than other similar switches. They can be used in a variety of applications, including cell phones, personal computers, automotive, consumer electronics, and white goods.
A capacitive touch switch works by detecting the presence or absence of a conductive object, such as a finger, by measuring changes in capacitance. With capacitive touch switches, you can incorporate multiple functions, including LED drivers and backlighting, along with buttons, sliders, switches, touchpads, touchscreens, and proximity sensors. Our capacitive touch switches have a proximity sensing feature that is able to "wake" an idle system when it detects the presence of an approaching object, such as a hand, even through overlay materials several millimeters thick.
Capacitive touch switches have the following advantages:
- Reduced board space requirements
- Lower cost
- Self-contained system provides flexibility to the overall design
- Variety of non-conductive overlay materials can be used
For additional design features, please view our capacitive touch switches sell sheet.
